BARBARA TUTOR Obituary – Sept. 17, 1940 – Oct. 08, 2019


Barbara Jean Cain Tutor, 79, of Henderson passed away Oct. 8, 2019 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Jerry Woods officiating. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
She was born Sept. 17, 1940 in the Deanburg Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late John Otis and Cynthia LaVerne Miller Cain. She attended Chester County Schools.
She worked a few years at Salant & Salant Mfg. and married L. V. Tutor. They made their home at Silerton. Mr. Tutor died in 1975.
She worked in housekeeping and maintenance at Chickasaw State Park for 20 plus years, retiring in 2013. After her retirement she enjoyed riding her Honda Goldwing and Harley Davidson Tri-Glide. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, going out to eat, sitting on the porch birdwatching and doing cross word puzzles. She was a member of the Deanburg Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Bobbie (Tim) Rushing of Henderson; one grandson, Robert (Kristi) Rushing; four great-grandchildren, Adalynne Rushing, Robert Josiah Rushing, Harper Rushing and Leonidas Rushing; two brothers, Claude Cain of Pinson and Larry Shackelford of Beech Bluff; and a sister, Wanda Christopher of Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Richard Cain.
