Hello to everyone! This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. No matter what life brings us, we always have something to be glad about. It is great to live in a Bible Belt State. I hope and pray that you had a wonderful week.
Well, Veterans Day has come and gone. The Veterans and the City of Henderson would first like to thank Mayor Bobby King for allowing the Veterans and their families to use City Hall. It was a great turnout. Every year, specifically on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when major hostilities of World War I were formally ended, Americans pay tribute to all veterans – living and dead – who served their country honorably during war or peacetime. For all of you that did not attend the Veteran Day program at City Hall, Congressman Mark Green did an outstanding job speaking. His words echoed in the building, letting us know what great men and women we have serving this country. He explained what it means to be a Veteran in today’s world.
His message made me feel proud to be a Veteran and an American. We were honored to have the Freed-Hardeman University Chamber Singers, directed by Jacob Dowdy, sing the National Anthem and the Armed Forces Medley. Each branch of the Armed Forces was asked to stand and be recognized. Chester County Mayor Hutcherson and City Major King read their Proclamation and presented it to the American Legion Post 157 Commander Chris Dunbar. The American Legion did an outstanding job. Thank you for such an outstanding program. A salute goes out to my son First Lt. Frank M. Holiday, Jr. He is celebrating Veterans Day in Germany. To all Veterans, thank you for your service!
Also, Nov. 10 was the Marine Corps 244th birthday. To all of my Marine Corps soldiers, Semper Fi (always faithful)! We hope you enjoyed your birthday.
On Nov. 8, Principal Kim Scott, her staff and students presented a Veterans Program for the Veterans. The program was NOTEWORTHY! Ms. Kim, thank you. Keep up the great work!
To all MEDICARE card holders, the 2019-2020 Medicare Open Enrollment Period is coming to a close. Dec. 7 is the last day to make any changes for a Jan. 1, 2020 effective date. For more information, go to medicare.gov.
On the prayer list this week: Anyone who you know who needs prayer. Remember to pray for our United States of America and most of all for our teachers, family, the men and women serving our country.
Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
