It was a great week here at Jacks Creek Elementary School!
Kindergarten had a great week. A few skills we worked on include blending and reading cvc words, sight words, adding and 3-D shapes. Thank you to everyone who was able to come help us “Save the Farm” last Tuesday night at our family fun night. The students really enjoyed all the fun activities. Thanksgiving break will be next week Nov. 25-29. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
Our first graders worked hard in reading, learning about astronomy. They were completely amazed that our earth is turning and moving constantly. In math the boys and girls also worked hard on learning place value and number comparison.
Second grade had a great time “saving the farm” at parent involvement. Thanks to everyone that participated and made all of our hard work in preparing worthwhile. We hope you enjoy your much needed Thanksgiving break and come back refreshed and ready to learn.
Third graders were very privileged to go on a special field trip! On Friday, we boarded a bus and traveled to Playhouse on the Square in Memphis to see the play “Peter Pan”! We want to thank Mrs. Becky Hartle for this amazing experience! We will be reading the book and doing a unit study on “Peter Pan” during the month of December for our reading lessons. We concluded our unit on Native Americans in North America, which we really enjoyed learning more about. In math, we continued our study of finding the area of rectangles. We will be working hard during December, which will put us half-way to becoming fourth grade! We want everyone to have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving break. Mrs. Michelle Hite is the substitute teacher for Mrs. Nancy’s class until after Christmas. It is nice to have a break from Ms. Nancy! HA!
Our Farmer of the Week goes to Hutton Pequignot, whose favorite book is the Sesame Street and favorite food is a hotdog. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Farmer of the Week goes to Melinda Carroll! Her favorite book is Pollyanna, and her favorite food is Mexican food. We appreciate all that she does for our school as our Librarian.
Please collect Box Tops! Each Box Top equals 10 cents for our school. This is an EASY way for us to earn money for JCES! Our goal is to raise $700. Everyone can help us reach this goal!
Coats for Kids Drive: Donations of new or gently used coats and jackets will be accepted through the month of November.
