I apologize again for not sending news last week. Things just are not going well for me lately. I hope everyone else has started off good this year healthy and happy!
These community neighbors and friends need our prayers: Kristen Carlton Jones, Tim Landers, Brianna Landers, Gary Hyatt, Carolyn Brasfield, Jim Ruth, Eloise Murley, Samantha Mosier, Woodie Deming, Betty Quarles, Ms. June Davis, Johnny Roach and his son Johnny, Jr. Please reach out to our shut-ins and nursing home folks. Also, remember our military, our law enforcement and first responders, and do not forget the ones that have lost loved ones. Galatians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens and in this way will fulfill the law of Christ.”
I want to wish Mitzi and Eric Bastin a happy belated anniversary. Hope it was fun and will be a great memory.
Happy belated birthdays to Madison Hopper on Jan. 09, Kim Howell on Jan. 10 and Ann Helton, Ruth Landers, Todd Julian and Melanie Morton on Jan. 12. I hope you all had a delightful day!
Birthdays this week are Ann Hankins on Jan. 17 and Mitzi Bastin and Rudy Quarles on Jan. 21. And a happy birthday to Charles Murley in Heaven this year. We miss you so much!
Our devotion this week: “What will you choose this week? LOVE: No occasion justifies hatred; no injustice warrants bitterness. I choose love. Today I will love God and what God loves. JOY: I will invite my God to be the God of circumstance. I will refuse the temptation to be cynical…the tool of the lazy thinker. I will refuse to see people as anything less than human beings, created by God. I will refuse to see any problem as anything less than an opportunity to see God. PEACE: I will live forgiven. I will forgive so that I may live. PATIENCE: I will overlook the inconveniences of the world. Instead of cursing the one who takes my place, I’ll invite him to do so. Rather than complain that the wait is too long, I will thank God for a moment to pray. Instead of clinching my fist at new assignments, I will face them with joy and courage.”
I will work on these this week and we will work on some more next week! Praying that we all choose these.
Pray for your loved ones and friends. Pray for our nation and our leaders. And pray for your church and the church as a whole. Our church is the people, Christians, not just the building! We are under attack!
Call me to give me your news or to send me something about Deanburg you remember. I am still trying to get some stories.
