Paul and I started dating in high school when I was 15 and he was 16. I had noticed him around school for a while and thought he was so cute. To add to the appeal, he drove a little low rider truck. I still remember riding around Henderson many nights in that little truck. Then one day in the lunch room, I didn’t have any lunch money for the day, so I asked if I could borrow $2. He, of course, let me have it, and we talked a little. It wasn’t long after we received our yearbooks, and I wrote a little note in it and left my number. He called me that night, and on May 8, 1998, he asked me out and gave me his class ring. We were engaged Dec. 24, 1999, although being afraid my parents wouldn’t be happy because I was only 17, we decided to call it a promise ring. I’m pretty sure to this day my parents still don’t know this. (I guess they will now.) Paul went off to Nashville Auto Diesel College and I started Jackson State after graduation. We were married Aug. 3, 2002 at the Tulip Tree Chapel in Jackson. He is an Auto Body Technician, and I am a Registered Nurse. We have three amazing children and have been married 17 years now. It hasn’t always been easy, but it has been so worth it!
