Jacks Creek Elementary receives USDA technology grant

Attending the announcement of the USDA Technology grant were: Thomas Leach, Chester Co. Schools Support Services Supervisor; Dustin Carroll, CCS Technology Coordinator; Greg Oliver, CCS Student Information System Coordinator; Dr. Steven Marise, CCS Instructional Technology; Testing and School Safety Coordinator and Jacks Creek Principal Tangie Sweatman; Sherry Hutcherson, wife of CC Mayor Barry Hutcherson; Barry Hutcherson, CC Mayor; Shane Connor CC Schools Board Member; Dr. Ronald Johnson, CC Schools Board Member Dwight Bingham, CC Schools Board Member; Jim Tracy, USDA Tennessee State Director for Rural Development; Walt Downing, USDA Loan Specialist; Troy Kilzer II, CC Director of Schools; Andrea Holland, CC Commissioner and Joel Howard, USDA Area Director.

On Monday Feb. 24, Jacks Creek Elementary received a $25,000 technology grant from the United States Department of Agriculture. The funds will be used to enhance the learning experience within classrooms within the school.
An example of technology that was purchased are smartboard panels which will allow the students to interact more during class and make it possible for teachers to better assess the students’ knowledge.
Chester County Director of Schools, Troy Kilzer II was able to see these smartboard panels in use.
“The kids really enjoy it,” he said.
He believes the technology will make a great impact on the kids.
“This technology will have significant learning benefits for students for many years.”
