Last week, the Chester County School Board and Chester County High School Athletic Director Clay Murley announced their decision to hire Collin McPherson as the new CCHS boy’s basketball coach.
Last year, he was the assistant coach under Kody Howard who resigned a few weeks ago for an opportunity to coach at Dodge City Community College in Kansas.
He steps into the position as the program’s fourth coach in four years following Kody Howard, Drew Stutts and Jason Shelton.
He stated he intends on staying around to grow the Eagles basketball team for the years to come and be a coach on which current and future players can rely.
“There’s been four coaches in the last four years, and that’s one thing that I want to bring to Chester County basketball more than anything; give them, the kids there and the program, somebody that they can have a role model of. Somebody that they can know is going to be there,” he said.
McPherson played basketball, baseball and golf during his years of high school until he graduated in 2015.
He then played baseball for Jackson State Community College during his first year of college and transferred to Freed-Hardeman University and continued playing baseball until he graduated in 2019.
