Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Memorial Day was Monday, May 25. I failed to mention it when writing the news last week. It is a day set aside to remember and never forget those brave soldiers who died serving our country, past and present. Freedom is not free. God Bless America. Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address talks about the lives lost during the civil war, “They gave their last full measure of devotion that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain – that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom.” So, it is not asking too much of us to take time to remember all those who have died for our country.
Congratulations to the Chester County Class of 2020. The last few months of school certainly did not go as planned, and I am sure they feel cheated out of moments that they have been looking forward to for many years. To the graduates: You will definitely remember your senior year forever as 2020 will go down in the history books. From your experience, always remember that you can survive and rise above disappointment. Now go out and make the world a better place!
Hickory Corner Community sends our condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the tragic car accident on May 16. May God bless those families. Please everyone continue to pray for Kristen Daniels who is in the hospital in Memphis.
As our country is reopening up, is it too soon? We do not really know. When will the COVID-19 be over? We do not really know that either. I will continue to wear my mask when I am out. If ever there is a time for the people of our country to pray and to come together, now is the time. Please remember what God says in 2 Chronicles, Chapter 7, verse 14: “If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my faith and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.”
Remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Walt and Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ronnie and Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Mary Alice and Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Jim Ruth, W.T Roland, Peggy Lard, William Maness and Buck Burkhead. Also pray for our first responders, healthcare providers, our leaders, and all those essential workers. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me. If you would like to rent the HCC center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159. Please call me at 989-3315 with any news and tidbits. I would love to hear from some of our readers. Make it a great week!
