Hello everyone!
I hope everyone is doing well. I hope everyone remembered the reason we celebrate Memorial Day. It is to remember all the military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Stay safe and social distance.
Time is flying by. I can keep most things done as needed, but this is where I am falling behind. We have been outside working quite a bit. We have to work between rain clouds. Our garden is growing, but it seems corn and okra will have to be replanted. I read on the internet to soak okra seeds overnight in warm water to help when planting. Okra is a no show, and James thinks that is why, so he will plant again with just plain seed. Birds are visiting our bird boxes, but our yellow finches are not as plentiful as earlier. My squash and cucumbers have big blooms. Our flowers in pots are soooo happy. I am in hopes that when we get enough sun the ground plants will take off.
I sent my news in early last week and did not have the news of the accident that happened not far from us. We are so sorry for the families that lost a child in the horrible wreck on Hwy. 200 last Saturday. Four precious lives lost, and one is still in Memphis with prayers going up for Kristen Daniel to pull through this. From knowing the loss of a child, only time, prayer and God will get them through the tragedy. So many hopes and dreams dashed. The love, laughter and life the child brought into their life is gone. Other siblings suffering in silence. Parents suffer separately. We see no reason. Life as we knew it has stopped forever. It takes a lot of time, faith and prayer to survive the loss of a child. They are gifts from God and His to take. My heart hurts for you all. In time you will be broken yet mended but never the same again. Remember that God never leaves you nor forsakes you. Hugs to all and God bless. Our Nick has been gone 22 years.
Mifflin Baptist Church will open at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 31. Social distancing will be observed, and masks will be available.
Happy Birthday to Zachary Priddy, 5-22; Ayden Sanford, 5-27; and Brandon Berry, 5-28.
Happy Anniversary to Myra and Ed McKinley, 5-25.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Lynn Allen, Denise Armstrong, Brinson Biggs, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Maverick Butler, Leon Carroll, Diane Cross, Stephanie Hatch, Jeremy Ellis, Danny Jones, Nancy McCaskill, Nancy Morris, LaVelle Page, MaryAnn Priddy, Pam Priddy, Donald and Doris Rowlett, Doris Sells, Dalton Seratt, Kenny Stevens, Kristi Taylor, and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, all those affected by the coronovirus, our country and its leaders and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those. Even if you do not know their name, God does.
The poem below is dedicated to all those who have lost children. God bless.
“Cast Me Gently” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “Cast me gently into sleep/that holds my memories buried deep/that once again I see them true/reliving all the joy from you/Shall I have you near once more/just as we were back then before/Where I can see your face in clear/no longer gone – forever near/How dare I love in such extreme/Those moments will sustain me till/I once again will truly ‘feel’/And when I gaze upon your face/all earthly sorrow will erase/My heart will be untorn and free/when we’re together – you and me.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. We are not answering numbers we do not recognize due to the high number of robocalls. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the Independent are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
