Chester County Director of Schools, Troy Kilzer II, shared the following message to Chester County School stakeholders about the opening of schools for the 2020-21 academic school year.
“As I prepare to begin my thirtieth year with the school district, living in Chester County all my life and working for our students, have been rich blessings and privileges for me. The joy and enthusiasm expressed by Chester County educators and staff, as thoughtful plans to educate our students become reality, demonstrate to me that our staff are special people called to this work.
In my opinion, there is no higher calling of a career- the lifelong influence upon our children as they grow and mature into young adults is worth so much. Not only me, but many others in our school district share my same feelings.
Chester County is truly a great place to live and work. The faithfulness and devotion of our community to support the work of our schools is noticed and appreciated by all staff everyday. Your support is why Chester County Schools are recognized as among the best in the state and nation. Thank you for putting your trust in our work with your children- we will educate them well.
Realizing the best education for our students is where our educators and staff can deliver the instruction onsite and in person, Chester County Schools will be opening for the first day of school on Monday, August 3rd for a partial day for grades Kindergarten through 5th, and 6th grade orientation at CCJHS, and 9th orientation at CCHS. The first full day of school will begin on Tuesday, August 4 from 8 a.m-3 p.m. The approved 2020-21 school calendar will be followed as recorded on the district website. School services including meals and school bus transportation will be available for our students in need.
This past spring and summer have been learning experiences for everyone and from these experiences, there have been and will continue to be changes in regular school routines. The safety of students and staff is a major priority. Just as high a priority is the learning of all students in caring and nurturing environments. Our staff is committed to this service to our students and families. All students learning at high levels is our goal.
More information about the start of the school year will be forthcoming.
I pray that you are looking forward to the 2020-21 school year. Eagles soar higher!”
