DAVE RAY Obituary – Dec. 30, 1945 – June 22, 2020


David Cecil Ray, 74, of Jacks Creek passed away June 22, 2020 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were noon Saturday, June 27, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with family members speaking.
Burial followed at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson at 2 p.m. Saturday. The family received friends at East Main Chapel from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday.
He was born Dec. 30, 1945 in Cement, Okla., the son of the late George and Minnie Polk Ray.
He was a general contractor in Jackson for several years, retiring in 2017. He married Sally Hicks Pate on May 28, 2005, and they made their home in Jacks Creek. He raised cattle and chickens and enjoyed being outdoors. He was a very pleasant person to be around.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Pate Hicks Ray; two daughters, Cheryl (Donald) Ray Denton of Whitesboro, Texas, and Karen Ray Crabtree of Whitesboro, Texas; two stepdaughters, Cathy (Jeremy) Ainsworth of Germantown and Christie (Stacey) Ainsworth of Memphis; a stepson, Bob Pate of St. Cloud, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Donja Denton, Derek Denton, Dakota Denton, Blake (Jenna) Crabtree, David Crabtree, Savannah Crabtree and Kelcey (Nick) Gorman; two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Gorman and Lincoln Gorman; a brother, Richard (Judy) Ray of New Mexico; and sisters, Betty Lacey of Oregon, Joyce Mundell of Arizona, Linda Errington of Texas, Patsy Mann of Oregon and Jacqueline Dunn of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bob Ray and Douglas Ray.
