James Curtis Cawthon passed away on Aug. 1, 2020 in Lebanon.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Beech Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was born to the late Curtis Cawthon and Vashti Cawthon Meadows on Jan. 2, 1954 in Jackson.
He was a 1973 graduate of Chester County High School.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of Beech Spring Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a church Trustee.
After high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served for seven years.
Upon his discharge, he returned to Chester County and joined the US Army Reserves and served an additional 13 years until his retirement.
In 1987, he began his career in law enforcement with Jackson Police Deparment, Tennessee Highway Patrol and Henderson County Police Department where he spent the next 25 years serving his communities.
He is survived by the love of his life, Sally Ann Williams, who he married in 1974; his son, Chris Cawthon of Henderson; his daughter, Melina (Daniel) Phillips of Lebanon; his sisters, Betty Johnson and Ollie Ruth Brooks; brother, Rudolph Meadows; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Walker) Mason, Rita (Jimmy) Thomas and Mary Williams; five grandchildren who meant the world to him, Jordan Anderson, Aiden Ols, Ethan and Brady Cawthon and Kinsley Phillips; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Cawthon, and a brother, Joe Meadows.
