BOBBIE WELLS Obituary – May 8, 1938 – Aug. 26, 2020


Bobbie Nell Williams Wells, 82, of Mifflin passed away Aug. 26, 2020 at the Henderson County Community Hospital. Graveside services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Mifflin Cemetery. The family received friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
She was born May 8, 1938 in Huron, the daughter of the late Carl Edward and Lexie Ledale Beecham Williams. She attended school in Lexington.
She married Jimmy Van Wells on Oct. 16, 1955, and they made their home in Mifflin. She worked for Chester County Sportswear for 20 years and then for Johnson Controls in Lexington for over 10 years. Along with her husband, they owned and operated Jimmy Wells Discount Grocery and Furniture Store in Mifflin. Mr. Wells died on March 18, 2012. She was a member of the Mifflin Baptist Church.
She loved to cook and entertain and was always the life of the party, and she also enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by a son, Tim Wells of Mifflin; three grandchildren, Bryan (companion Melissa) Wells, Blake (Tiffany) Wells and Blair (Lauren) Wells; five great-grandchildren, Haley Wells, Hanna Wells, Aubrey Wells, Kallie Wells and Kyndel Wells; two sisters, Jean Tignor of Luray and Janice Haskins of Beech Bluff; and three brothers, Carl Williams Jr., Roger Williams and Carlton Williams all of Huron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmy Wells; and a son, Eddie Wells.
