Greetings once again from the good old community of Deanburg! I hope everyone is well.
Our birthdays this week are Cayce Perkins and Larry Shackleford on Sept. 17, Jimmy Concialdi on Sept. 19, Beth Ann Hill and Hannah Collins on Sept. 21, and Abigail Tully on Sept. 22. I hope it is the best birthday ever! Happy birthday in Heaven this year to Barbara Tutor! We miss you.
Please pray for our neighbors and friends in our community and our county: Kristen Carlton Jones, Tim Landers, Brianna Landers, Gary Hyatt, Jim Ruth, Eloise Murley, Samantha Mosier, Woodie Deming, Betty Quarles and Barbara Mitchell. Pray for the ones with the virus. We have had quite a few more victims this week. Please play it safe and take all the precautions.
I hope everyone has an opportunity to go to church. Some of the churches are open, using caution with spacing and wearing masks. We at Bethel are having great services and started Sunday School but not in confined spaces. Everyone meets in the sanctuary. Please join us if your church is not meeting yet or you just need a church to call home. I miss our hugs, but at least we get to see our brothers and sisters and worship together. Sunday School is at 9:30-10:30 a.m., and worship service is at 11 a.m. Sunday night worship is at 6 p.m., and Wednesday night’s is at 7 p.m. We would love to have you join us.
Most of us in Deanburg, as you know, can not get high speed Internet. This week in the Tennessee Magazine they are announcing that STEMC is joining forces with Aeneas for broadband internet. We can sign up at www.fiber.aeneas.com for residential pricing. Maybe it is finally here!
There will be a rummage sale at Deanburg Baptist Church Friday, Sept. 18, and Saturday, Sept. 19. I do not know times. For more information, call Betty Quarles at 731-988-5122.
Our devotion this week is from Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling: “Grow strong in the light of My Presence. Your weakness does not repel Me. On the contrary, it attracts My Power, which is always available to flow into a yielded heart. Do not condemn yourself for your constant need of help. Instead, come to Me with your gaping neediness; let the Light on My Love fill you. A yielded heart does not whine or rebel when the going gets rough. It musters the courage to thank Me even during hard times. Yielding yourself to My will is ultimately an act of trust. In quietness and trust is your strength. Psalm 116:5-7, ‘(5) The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. (6) The Lord protects the simple hearted; when I was in great need, he saved me. (7) Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.’ Ephesians 5:20, ‘Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.’ Luke 1:78-79: ‘(78) because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven (79) to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.’”
My prayers are with each of you always!
