EDWARD ‘ED’ GADDY Obituary – July 4, 1928 – Oct. 5, 2020


Edward Smith Gaddy, 92, of Henderson passed away Oct. 5, 2020 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial followed in Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday until service time at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
He was born July 4, 1928 in Memphis and grew up at Bethel Springs, the son of the late Ambrose Lafayette and Ruby Margaret Smith Gaddy. He attended school at Finger.
He married Johnnie Morrison. They made their home in Henderson. He worked as an auto mechanic and auto body repairman and then opened Gaddy Lime and Gravel in 1963, operating until 1996. He then drove a gravel truck for the Chester County Road Department, retiring in 2006.
He was a Chester County Constable for several years. He was a member of the Sanford Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Marie Morrison Gaddy of Henderson; a son, Jeff (Ann) Gaddy of Henderson; one daughter, Stephanie (John) Doster of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Molly (Nick) Chenoweth-Gaddy; Peyton Doster and Drew Doster; and two sisters, Alvaretta Fortuna of Forney, Texas, and Mary Lou Smith of Jackson, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Quay Gaddy and Billy Neal Gaddy.
