According to a notice from the Property Assessor’s office, a deed scam is reportedly making the rounds in Tennessee.
The scammers that are doing this are sending new property owners a letter which tells them they can provide the new owner with a copy of the deed and a profile of the property for a price, usually for around $89 to $95. The letter has been designed to look very important and official, but it is in no way official.
Copies of deeds are available to property owners at no charge from the Property Assessor’s office, and the other information scammers are trying to sell can be obtained from the Property Assessor’s Office, as well.
If you receive any such letter as described, throw it away or feel free to call 989-4991 or take it to the Property Assessor’s office with questions.
