BILL BARRETT Obituary – June 6, 1950 – Dec. 9, 2020


Billy Ray Barrett, 70, of Henderson passed away Dec. 9, 2020 at his home.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Zach Barrett officiating. Burial followed in Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesday.
He was born June 6, 1950 in Jackson and grew up in Chester County, the son of the late Johnnie Ray and Dorothy Jane Horton Barrett. He entered the U.S. Army in 1970 and served stateside in Washington, DC during the Vietnam Era. He worked at Goldsmith’s in Memphis for several years, where he did HVAC work. He married Sara Stephens in 1986. They made their home in Memphis, Horn Lake, Miss., and Ocala, Fla., before moving to Henderson, where he was a self-employed HVAC installer. He was a member of A New Beginning Church. Mrs. Barrett preceded in death in 2007.
He was a handyman “Mr. Fix It.” He loved working on cars.
He is survived by a son, Zach (Tiffani) Barrett of Jacksonville, Fla.; one grandson, Tyler Schweigert; a sister, Pat (Ray) Jones of Henderson; and two nephews, Donald and Mike Jones.
