It was a fantastic week here at Jacks Creek Elementary as the semester comes to an end!
Kindergarten had a great week. Students completed the CASE assessment in Reading and Math. Students continued to work hard on practicing skills such as sight words, beginning sounds, blending and reading words, sentence writing, counting and subtraction.
Our last day before break is this Thursday, Dec. 17. There will be no school on Friday. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holidays and break! Students will return on Jan. 5.
We had a busy week in first grade at JCES. We took our CASE tests. In reading, we started learning about outer space. In our skills for reading, we read fables and learned to write narratives. We read and learned about the gingerbread man and wrote letters to Santa. In math, we finished learning about halves and quarters. Then, we began learning about measurement. All in all, our boys and girls worked so hard this week.
In second grade we celebrated Christmas around the World. We learned about some customs which are very much like ours, and some which are VERY different! We also created some special ornaments and had yummy treats to remind us of these customs. It has been such an interesting subject that we will remember for a long time. In math we reviewed addition, but our main focus was on subtracting two-digit numbers with and without regrouping! We are super excited about Christmas and our holiday vacations! We hope everybody has a safe and fun holiday and that Santa is good to you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2021!
In third grade we wrapped up our CKLA and Envision units. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Thank you to the parents that donated for our class Christmas parties. We can not wait to see you back in January.
Our Farmer of the Week goes to Addison Mitchell, whose favorite books are books about unicorns and whose favorite food is brownies. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Farmer of the Week goes to the awesome Mrs. Tangie Sweatman. Her favorite books are the Bible and “Circle Maker,” and her favorite foods are all the foods! We appreciate all that she does as our fearless leader and principal.
As the temperature continues to fall, remember to label your child’s winter clothing items (jackets, coats, hats, etc.). We already have several jackets hanging on our lost and found rack.
The Chester County School System is now recognized as a critical infrastructure. This policy now requires students third grade and above to wear masks.
