SWHRA Head Start begins taking applications Jan. 1

Southwest Human Resources Agency Head Start program has begun its Child Find Search for three- and four-year-old disabled children and other children needing services in the 2021-2022 Head Start program year. January 1, the organization will begin the recruitment process of taking applications, by phone only, for the 2021-2022 school year.
Head Start serves children the year before they are eligible to attend Kindergarten, and includes disabled children as an important part of the Head Start Program. Special provisions are made for children who may need special furniture or equipment. There are no fees for these or for any Head Start services, or for participation in the program for the children of families who qualify.
The Southwest Head Start program is a comprehensive program which involves parents and the community in assisting the Head Start child in becoming “school ready”. Parents are engaged in Head Start services such as Early Childhood Development, Child Heath Services, Family and Community Partnerships, Transition/Literacy, Disabilities/Mental Health, and Program Policy Making. Our Disability component offers professional diagnosis of disabling conditions, development and implementation of Individual Education Plan (IEP) and transition into local school districts.
