The Lions basketball team (9-2, 4-1 MSC) bounced back with a win on Monday evening, taking down Campbellsville (6-7, 4-6 MSC) 85-77 in their makeup game originally scheduled for December 5.
The Tigers got off to the hot start, leading the Lions 16-0 before Luka Filipovic was able to get FHU on the board with a 3-pointer with 13:29 remaining in the half.
The Lions would fight back in the opening 20 minutes to cut into the lead and only trail by five points heading into the break.
Campbellsville wouldn’t relinquish their lead easily, though, but the Lions were able to take their first lead with 4:31 remaining in the contest after Kortland Martin went 1-for-2 from the free throw line.
Once the Lions gained the lead, they wouldn’t let it go, doing so by forcing turnovers, making shots, and knocking down clutch free throws.
Martin led all scorers in the win with 29 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, 4-of-6 from behind the arc.
Filipovic finished with his FHU career-high 17 points while also pulling down nine rebounds off the bench. Jeremiah closed out the double-digit scorers with 15 points in the win.
