Greetings from Hickory Corner!
As I wrote this on Monday, it was a beautiful day, sunny and 57 degress. I loved this weather. Not sure how long we will continue to see this kind of day, but I will take what we can get.
Ann Bennett has had company; her son Barry from Missouri has been visiting. I know she enjoys having him here.
Hearts to fellow writer Patsy Jones for all her effort and time in putting together “On The Wings of A Dove” that listed those whom we lost last year.
I read last week in the Silerton news where Frankie and Mary Lambert had recently been to Washington, Ill., for the funeral of their relative Hughlon Wade. When James and I lived in Pekin, Ill., I remember a time when Hughlon and his wife Annie came to our house for a visit. Washington, Ill., was only about 25 minutes from Pekin. James knew Hughlon growing up, and I believe they worked near each other at Caterpillar. Over the years, we lost touch with one another.
Did you know Betty White celebrated her 99th birthday on Jan. 17. She was born in 1922 and spent 80 years in show business. I still enjoy watching her on Golden Girls. I hope she gets to see 100!
Need a new morning routine? Coca Cola has done it again with a new rollout of their Coca Cola mixed with Brazilian coffee. Yep, and it comes in three flavors in 12 ounce cans. You can get Dark Blend, Vanilla or Caramel. Be on the lookout, as it is supposed to be in stores this month.
Remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Jim Ruth, W.T. Roland, Peggy Lard and William and Eddie Luttrell. Please continue to pray for those who are dealing with COVID and other sicknesses. If you would like to add or remove a name to the prayer list, please call me. Sympathy to the family of Keith Whitman who passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, at his home in Hickory Corner. Also sympathy to all others who have recently lost loved ones. “Those we love may pass beyond the reach of hands but not outside the hearts.” – unknown

Our world could use a little more kindness these days. Whether it is a friendly smile, holding a door for someone, giving a compliment, letting someone go ahead of you in line…this list could go on and on. An act of kindness can change someone’s day. Make it a great week and be sure to spread some kindness.
