DAN CLIMER Obituary – Sept. 24, 1939 – Jan. 26, 2021


Coy Daniel Climer, 81, of Jefferson, N.C. passed away Jan. 26, 2021 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Sam McAdams and Randy Hart officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at McKenzie. The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel and from noon-1 p.m. Monday at the church. The family requested that facial coverings were worn and that mindfulness of social distancing was practiced.
He was born Sept. 24, 1939 in Chester County, the son of the late Dexter Riley and Gertha Barker Climer. He graduated from Sardis High School in 1958. He attended Bethel College.
He married Linda Akers in 1960. They made their home in McKenzie, and he worked for Gaines Manufacturing and then lived in North Carolina for five years. They returned to Tennessee, and he worked for American Olean Tile from 1984 until he retired in 2001. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church.
 He served in the Tennessee National Guard for six years.
They enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states. He dearly loved his extended Climer family.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Akers Climer; two daughters, Rita (Charles) Climer Davis of Blowing Rock, N.C., and Judy Climer Stallings of Jefferson, N.C.; a brother, Joe Climer of Reagan; and three sisters, Martha Bell Climer, Elizabeth Mooney and Velma Dean Hart all of Reagan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hazel Ryan and Mamie Dell Essary; and three brothers, Paul Climer, Clifford Climer and Ernest Climer.
