We had a great final week before spring break here at Jacks Creek Elementary School!
Kindergarten had a great week! Students completed the math portion of the CASE assessment. A few skills we worked on included sentence writing, blends and digraphs, counting by 1s and 10s and adding fluently. We hope everyone has a good and safe Spring Break. Students return on Monday, March 29. Report cards will be sent home that day, and picture day will be Tuesday, March 30. Kindergarten will be taking cap and gown pictures and first-third grade will be taking Spring pictures.
We had a busy week in first grade! We finished our enCase benchmark testing. We read about the tropical rain forest, freshwater and saltwater habitats. We read about river otters, cranes and spoonbills. We wrote a descriptive writing about grapes using our five senses. In math, we reviewed and took our nine week test. We hope everyone enjoys their Spring break! Spring break is March 22-26.
We finished enCase testing in second grade at JCES. We were able to celebrate our accomplishments this week as we have worked hard all year long. We finished up learning about Americans who fought for a cause in reading. We also learned about geometry in math. We are excited for spring break and being prepared to work hard when we return to school.
In third grade, we have completed our enCase Assessments. We completed our time unit as well. We hope you all have a relaxing Spring Break. See you back on Monday, March 29.
Our Farmer of the Week goes to Peyton Bethune, who says her favorite books are the Dr. Seuss books and her favorite food is steak. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Farmer of the Week goes to Peyton Davidson. Her favorite book is The Great Gatsby, and her favorite foods are chicken and cookie dough ice cream! We appreciate all that she does as one of our interventionists!
Since it is winter, remember to label your child’s winter clothing items (jackets, coats, hats, etc.). We already have several jackets hanging on our lost and found rack. The Chester County School System is now recognized as a critical infrastructure. This policy now requires students third grade and above to wear masks.
It is important that we are able to contact you or a family member if your child is sick, injured, etc., or school is dismissed for inclement weather or other unexpected reasons. A pink Student Information Form has been sent home with all students for a parent/guardian to complete and return by Thursday. We need ALL students to return this pink form. District and school information is often shared through phone calls and/or Remind text messages. Therefore, please continue to keep this information up-to-date by contacting the school when changes are made. JOIN REMIND Messaging by texting the code below to 81010: @ccsdjces (Jack’s Creek Elementary) AND @ccsdist (Chester Co. School District)
