Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions sweep Martin Methodist in final regular-season series

The No. 16 Lady Lions (35-9, 23-7 MSC) earned their ninth sweep of the season against Martin Methodist (9-25, 7-21 MSC) on Saturday with a 1-0 win in game one and 5-0 in game two to close out their regular season.
Freshman Chloe Winters pitched a gem in the first game of the afternoon, throwing seven shutout innings with five strikeouts in the win.
The game was scoreless until Allie Mitchell continued her hot series with an RBI single to drive in Samantha Morgan in the top of the seventh inning.
The offense got out to a hotter start in the series finale, scoring three runs in the top of the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Annalise Jarnagin hit a solo home run, followed by an RBI double from Kennedy Harris and a sacrifice fly from Brittany Adair to score Laiken Page and Harris, respectively.
Sophie Dunavant hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth to cap off the scoring for the Lady Lions, and Adair earned the win in the circle after a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts.
