I hope that everyone had a nice Mother’s Day.
Whether you were able to spend the holiday together or apart, it is nice to celebrate mothers and all the cherished memories and moments we have enjoyed with them over the years. I would like to share a quote from James Barrie the author of Peter Pan that encapsulates a mother’s love and its lasting flame.
“‘Can anything harm us, mother, after the night-lights are lit?’ ‘Nothing, precious,’ she said; ‘they are the eyes a mother leaves behind her to guard her children.’”
The Disney movie Peter Pan also has a delightful song that describes a loving mother written by Sammy Fahd and Sammy Chan:
“Your Mother and Mine” – “Well a mother, a real mother, is the most wonderful person in the world/She’s the angel voice that bids you goodnight/Kisses your cheek, whispers sleep tight/Your mother and mine/Your mother and mine/The helping hand that guides you along/Whether you’re right, whether you’re wrong/Your mother and mine/Your mother and mine/What makes mothers all that they are/Might as well ask what makes a star/Ask your heart to tell you her worth/Your heart will say, heaven on earth/Another word for divine/Your mother and mine”
Kevin, Otto and I celebrated a very nice Mother’s Day in Knoxville. We got to celebrate with both mothers and also visit my Grandma Bunny in Norris. We had a lunch of taco salad and for dessert pineapple, mandarin orange cake. I would love to hear how others celebrated the holiday and if anyone has a traditional meal or recipe they associate with their mother or Mother’s Day
