News from the New Friendship & Mifflin Communities of Chester County

with Vickie Ellis

Hello to all!
The skies are a very pale blue on Saturday; there was no breeze, and it was 84 degrees. Our flowers are beginning to grow, and we are watering them. I do not know much about clematis, but we have two that are new. I read where they need fertilizer every two weeks and water frequently. I am hoping this makes them flourish. I wonder how many butterflies we will have this summer as we did not plant lantana as usual. It has been so hot that if you must get out, it needs to be early or late evening. Please be sure outside pets have plenty of fresh water and shade.
We went to Jackson Saturday for James’ cousin Steve Ellis who passed away. I decided to go the back way through the country and come out on Ridgecrest but could not turn right onto Highland due to paving. We had to turn around and reroute totally. I had plans afterwards to go onto Vann Drive and was told it was the same way, so I am sure it affected many people’s plans along with sales. I do not go to Jackson any more than I have to. My sister lives in south Jackson but does not come to Henderson much either. When I worked in Lexington, patients did not want to travel to Jackson. I imagine some have transportation issues, and it is more expense making sure you have gas. I also do not like congested driving. I would never live in a big city.
Saturday was my mother’s birthday. Wilma Faye Maness Mount died 2-24-04 and was born 5-22-35. She would be 86 today, and I miss her very, very much.
Our great-granddaughter is continuing to surprise us with cute things. Last week, when she was happy and smiled, she ‘“crinkled” her nose. She also has two teeth – just precious is all I can say. I see many sweet baby pictures on Facebook and wish everyone a happy summer.
We had a good attendance at Friendship Baptist Church on Sunday, and the sermon Bro. Glenn delivered was wonderful. God leads! Friendship Baptist will begin Sunday night services June 6. Discipleship training will be at 5:30 p.m. with evening worship at 6:30 p.m.
Happy Birthday to Zachery Priddy, 5-22; Ayden Sanford, 5-27; and Brandon Berry, 5-28.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Denise Armstrong, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, Jackie Chambers, Janet Crame, Wood Deming, Zack Eaton, Rachel Ellington, Alice and Buddy Stovall, Nancy McCaskill, Sarah McLemore, Jimmy Moore, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Donald Rowlett, Jim Ruth, Dalton Seratt, Missy Seratt, Jo Willis, Bruce Wright and the families of Monica Branch, Steve Ellis and the Wick’s. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
“Go Forth” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “My child, don’t think you cannot help – You must not feel too small/Your life is for a purpose and My plans include you all/I knew from the beginning…that I’d need each one of you/just place your trust in My hands…and I’ll show what you can do/There are a million different ways that each of you can show/those lost and lonely people all the truths they need to know/There are no ‘little’ gestures; each act of Faith is blessed/I’ve given you a special way…that you can teach the rest/You are My ‘beacons’ in the night; you are My shining star/and you will help My mission…exactly where you are/There may just be a hungry child you see out on the street/I had it planned so long ago… that you and he would meet/That smile you gave, that touch he felt – accomplished countless joy/You brought a sense of “My” sweet love into that little boy/You may think what you do is small, and will not help My cause/Your earthly ears can’t hear the sound of Heaven’s soft applause/That tired and lonely woman..who touched you with her cries/when you reached out to help her – she saw “ME” in your eyes/With every act of love you show…no matter big or small/You spread My purpose selflessly, and answer to My call/Reach out to others with My love – in simple, quiet ways/Make others want the ‘joy’ you show throughout your normal day/I don’t compare the gift you give – each ‘act’ is equal worth/I count on you to spread ‘My’ word – as heaven here on earth.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings.
