Commodities Distribution
June 2 and June 3

Commodities for CHESTER COUNTY will be distributed Wednesday, June 2, and Thursday, June 3, at the SWHRA Central Office located at 1527 White Ave in Henderson from 8 s.m.-noon. This is a drive-thru service and we ask that you please remain in your vehicle. Commodities will be placed in your trunk, bed of a truck, or back seat. For a smoother distribution, we are asking that last names beginning with A-L come on Wednesday; M-Z on Thursday. However, if you are unable to make your assigned day, you can come on either day. If you still need to sign up, you can do so by calling the Community Service Center at (731) 989-3879. This must be done before the day of distribution.

Carl Perkins Center Barbeque Sale June 3
Place your order for a Boston Butt and/or half chicken. Deadline to order is June 3 and pick-up is between 3-6 p.m. June 18 at the Barbeque Pit located beside the Chester County Court House. Orders can be placed at the Chester County Carl Perkins Center or online through the Center Facebook page. Cost is $40 for Boston Butt and $8 for half chickens. Fish Fry and Barbeque Chicken Dinner June 5
The Finger Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a fish fry and barbeque chicken dinner from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, June 5. Dine in or carry out will be available. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children. Please wear a mask for your protection.

Cookies for Cancer Sunday Family Fun Day June 13, July 11, and Aug. 8
Cookies for Cancer will have Sunday Family Fun Day from noon-4 p.m. at Gene Record Park at the Splash Pad. There will be games, races, free hamburgers and hotdogs. Donation items needed are chips, candy, coloring books, children’s toys, etc.

Flag Retirement Ceremony June 14
American Legion Davidson-Haltom Post 157 in Henderson will host a solemn flag retirement ceremony on Flag Day, Monday, June 14, beginning at 7 p.m. at the north end of Gene Record Memorial Park off 600 N. Church Avenue in Henderson. The somber ceremony will include the dignified destruction of worn or retired flags no longer fit for display in accordance with the accepted protocols as set forth in the United States Flag Code.  The Henderson Fire Department and Henderson Boy Scout Troop 25 will also participate in the observance. Lifeline Blood Drives June 15 and June 21
Lifeline Blood Services will be holding blood drives at TCAT from 8:30-11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-2:20 p.m. June 15 and at Piggly Wiggly 1-6 p.m. June 21.

CC Retired Teachers Meeting June 16
Chester County Retired Teachers will meet at noon on Wednesday, June 16, at Snookum’s. The sponsor is Peoples Bank. Mike Barker will be our guest speaker. He will update us on our state retirement system.  Membership dues will need to be paid – $40 for lifetime NEA and $75 for yearly membership.
