News from the Enville Community of Chester County

with Jan Johnson

Hello from Enville! I hope you all had a wonderful week! The calendar says Summer begins on Sunday, but I think it arrived early from the temperatures and humidity. Last weekend was a scorcher. It stayed cold for so long that I did not think it would get here, but it has, and I am not complaining yet! I hope the farmers can get back into the fields this week.
Father’s Day is Sunday, June 20. I hope you will get to spend the day with your dad. If not, a call or card would be nice!
Some of us Enville folks had a good time of fellowship and delicious food at the Finley reunion last Sunday in Adamsville. Some of our relatives we only see once a year at this reunion. Roy and Anita Middleton hosted a family reunion of 55 relatives at their house last weekend. They were blessed with great weather. They played lots of corn hole tournaments with prizes of a can of corn, pop corn, candy hot tamales (some players were smoking hot), and the championship prize was a 100 Grand (candy bar that is). I thought those were some neat prizes! Nita said that the smoked pork loins were a hit with everyone. She said they had a wonderful time and are looking forward to the next one!
I want to brag on some of our Enville young folks. The University of Tennessee at Martin announced their Chancellor’s Honor Roll students. Among them was Elijah Davidson, Highest Honors. Also, UT Knoxville announced their dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement. Among them was Christopher L. Canaday, Summa Cum Laude. To qualify for these honors, a student must earn a grade point of 3.8 to 4.0. Congratulations to these students for their for their great achievements!
Congratulations to Ford Frank and his baseball team, Wow Factor Rippers 10u, for being the PG Gulf Coast World Series 2021 Champions. They played their very best for four days, 10 games, four straight wins plus a rain delay. Congratulations, Ford, for bringing home the championship rings. We are very proud of you!
Mark your calendars for the Enville Wild Goose Shindig on Aug. 28. There will be barbeque pork, chicken, bologna, hamburgers, hotdogs, popcorn, ice cream, a silent auction, a cakewalk, music and more. Activities are from 4-9 p.m. Make plans to come and fellowship!
Happy birthday wishes go to Holly Robertson on June 18, David Milford on June 19 and Josh Trammell on June 20 (he will probably get lots of gifts this year, Father’s Day and birthday)! We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please continue prayers for Deb Finley, Casey Pratt, Florence Stublaski, Doris Weeks, Inez Cash, Genny Sue Martin, Jimmy Robertson, Mary Lee Guyon, Janice and Danny Keen, Lisa Bishop, Amanda Johnson, Agnes Smith, Linda and Robert Johnson, Jo Marie Holmes, Jack and Tera O’Neal, Harold and Janice Maness, Roy Middleton, Tim and Tabitha Hampton, Tim Harris, those who have lost loved ones, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers and military and, as always, each other. I will surly miss my calls from Mr. Jim Ruth. He always read our Community News columns and would call and tell me how much he appreciated hearing from folks in Enville.
It’s good to have our Pennsylvania/Ohio travelers back home, safe and sound! If you have news to share or someone to add to the prayer list, call me 688-5129 or to rent the community center, call Pat 688-5125.
Have a blessed week everyone!
