Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Hope to see you at Hickory Corner Community homecoming beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19. There will be barbeque plates, hot dogs, a cake walk, a cake auction, a silent auction and entertainment. Donations of cakes for the cakewalk and silent auction items are needed. Antique classic tractors will be on display. Everyone is invited to come out Saturday and enjoy the day. It has been awhile since we have all been able to get together, so we are looking forward to a good turnout.
We have already had many hot days, even though summer officially begins this Sunday, June 20. Last summer people had to put their summer plans on hold due to the pandemic, and this year, I think most are ready to get back to their normal summer fun and go on summer vacations. Share with us what you are doing this summer.
Sunday is also Father’s Day, a day for honoring fathers. I still miss my father. If your father is still living, I hope you take the time to visit or call him. If you have lost your father, then I hope you will take some time to reminisce of the good times you spent with him. Many have father like figures in their lives, and they are to be celebrated also.
Here are a few quotes about fathers:
“A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.” – Billy Graham
“Every father should remember one day his son will follow his example, not his advice.” – Charles Kettering
Happy birthday wishes go out to Erma Lee Morris (6/25) and Patricia Jones (6/27). Wishing both of you ladies a special day and a year full of blessings.
