Greetings from Hickory Corner!
July is winding down, and August will bring some changes, especially for kids. School starts back the first week of August bringing the end to summer for many.
Looks like hot weather continues this week. Be careful if you work outside and stay hydrated. Make sure your pets have plenty of fresh water, too. It is going to be HOT, HOT, HOT!
Bonice Martin reports that her great-great-grandson, Bentlee King, of Chester County (5-6 year old boys) played in the Youth Baseball World Series in Texarkana, Ark. Bentlee is also the great-grandson of Chuck and Ann Lane of Hickory Corner. What an exciting time for all these boys.
Pam Durbin reports that her grandson Ty Gildea with his ball team of Lexington (9-10 year old boys) won the state championship. Ty is the great-grandson of JoAnn Clayton of Hickory Corner. Way to go, boys. What a wonderful experience and an exciting time for all of you!
Recently, my son Greg and Janice were here. I sure enjoyed their visit. Also, my niece Donna and Ed were here visiting from Illinois. Donna and Ed hosted a gathering at Mommy and Poppy Patterson’s old home place. There were 18 family members in attendance. A lot of fun, laughter and good food. Also many memories shared of the good ole days.
Sympathy to Lonnie and Shirley Morton on the loss of their son, Mike Morton.
Sympathy to my nephew Jimmy Newsom and family on the loss of his son, Billy Newsom. Also, prayers and thoughts go out to the families of Jerry Bain, Charles Whitman, Larry Whitman, Billy Ray Maness and all others who have recently lost loved ones.
Remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Please continue to pray for all those who are dealing with sickness and those who have lost loved ones. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.

Make it a great week!
