Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Monday was a hot and humid day with a high of 94. Looks like hot weather continues all this week with some possible storms.
There will be an ice cream social at the HCC center at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14. Members will furnish the ice cream. Please bring finger food and bingo prizes. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the fun and fellowship.
My to do list for today: Count my blessings, let go of what I can not control, practice kindness, listen to my heart, stay calm, just breathe, pray every day. What is on your list?
I really enjoyed watching the Olympics held in Tokyo and hated to see it end. It was amazing. Hearts to all those athletes who participated. U.S.A. had the most Gold medals and overall medals. All of the athletes work so hard to reach their dreams of being in the Olympics. Congratulations to all regardless of whether they placed or not.
Recently, there has been an increase in COVID cases. I will continue to wear my mask while out in public. Please be safe and smart when out in public and in large gatherings. I pray we do not have a fall and winter like last year.
Happy belated anniversary to Jo and Nancy Holmes on Aug. 6. Happy belated birthday to Diane Kesler on Aug. 8. I apologize not getting your special day in the news last week.
Remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Please continue to pray for all those who are dealing with sickness and those who have lost loved ones. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
Folks, this is your column. Please call me at 989-3315 with tidbits, birthdays anniversaries, vacations or anything you would like to share with us. I would be happy to hear from you.
I leave you with this quote I found online. “Morning is God’s way of saying one more time, go make a difference, touch a heart, encourage a mind, inspire a soul and enjoy the day.” – unknown Great advice.
Make it a great week.
