With the new school year upon us, there are many new questions and concerns, especially with the new COVID outbreak. Luckily, Chester County Schools were able to start on time. This is due, in part, to the many leaders, administrators, teachers and staff that help keep the school as safe as possible. Our school board met and approved our more relaxed dress code again this year, but we are not required to wear a mask or face covering. They also added school appropriate hoodies as acceptable articles of clothing to be worn at school.
Many students are excited to be back in school.
“My experience this year has differed a lot from last year. This year has seemed a lot more normal than the last. This reason may be due to the light decrease in the strictness in the dress code and not having to wear masks. For it being my senior year, I am super glad to see a return to normalcy, and with the signs of the school year so far, I do believe I will have a normal senior year,” said Tucker Allen.
“Even though this school year is still in its infancy, it has already been a breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively, without having to wear masks,” Myles Shelton said. “It is so refreshing to be able to see the smiles on the faces of our students and staff here at the high school. We are still taking precautions towards the virus, but our school days seem much more familiar to years past. Our school district has been resilient against the virus, and I could not be more proud to be a Chester County Eagle.”
With the new school year, it also means it is time for fall sports to kick into gear. We are hosting the Football Showcase beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at Eagle Stadium. This will “showcase” junior high and high school football teams, varsity and junior varsity teams and sixth grade and freshman teams as well as cheerleaders from both schools. The high school volleyball team will play their first game on Monday, Aug. 16, at home. The JV team will begin play at 5:30 p.m. and then varsity will follow. High school girls soccer will also play their season opener that day. Cross Country runs in their first meet Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Dresden High School. Our football home opener is Friday, Aug. 20, versus Fayette-Ware.
We are excited to return to school and are looking forward to a great year here at Chester County High School! We love Henderson and Chester County and greatly appreciate the support the community provides to us.
God Bless and Go Eagles!
