As of Monday evening August 16, a total of 2,518 positive COVID-19 cases have been reported in Chester County since the beginning of the pandemic in early 2020. This is an increase of 118 cases in just the past week. Of that number, 191 cases are currently active, which is an increase of 50 active cases since last week. “Active” cases are determined by the amount of time which has lapsed since diagnosis. At 14 days out from a positive test, cases which have not resulted in death are considered inactive or recovered, and sometimes seem to cause a discrepancy between “total cases” and “active” cases. Total COVID-related deaths in the county remain at 51. The number of inactive or recovered cases is reportedly 2,276. The county also reports 31.67% of local residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, with 26.86% having received both doses, or series completion.
Tennessee reports a total of 954,610 cases statewide with 891,866 recorded as inactive or recovered and 12,986 deaths related to the coronavirus. Tennessee Department of Health shows 47% of Tennesseans have received at least one dose of a vaccination regiment.
