News from the Montezuma Community of Chester County

with Gayle Cox

My apologies go out to Mayor Hutcherson for not getting this out sooner. I had started an article for the paper for the week of Aug. 12 to THANK him for coming out to our August Community Center meeting and talking with us regarding the COVID Relief money has been issued to Chester County with a second payment to be issued later this year. The grand total of that money is $3.3 million, and he explained some of the ways the money will be able to be used. He did a great job of explaining what he knew for the moment about the use and how, being it is a government item, it changes continually. I am sure many of you have opinions on what would be the best use for the money, and I do encourage each of you in our community to speak out. Some of it can be directed to the outlying communities for certain needs that will fall into the guidelines of how the money can be used. Call me, and I will be happy to relay messages to our local government offices, or contact your County Commissioners and voice your opinion. You can also call the County Mayor’s office. Mayor Hutcherson is invested in doing what would be the best fit for Chester County and help the residents of Chester County.
All membership dues that were not paid for 2020 and the ones for 2021 are currently due. Dues are $25 per year and can be mailed to Ann Moore at 2715 State Rt. 225, Henderson, TN 38340. We definitely need everyone to be proactive on this matter since it may be a while before we can hold another breakfast event due to the rise in COVID cases once again.
