Former Henderson business owner Jerry Cook buried Saturday


Jerry Lee Hardin Cook, 83, of Henderson passed away Oct. 5, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue
Cook and his wife, Wanda Beacham, returned to Henderson in 1985, and he operated Cook’s Home Care Service.

He was born Nov. 2, 1937 in Chester County, the son of the late Henry Hardin and Luna Ellen Seaton Cook. He attended Chester County Schools. In 1957, he married Wanda Beacham. They made their home in Detroit and worked in home construction and repair. They moved to Henderson in 1960, where he worked for Bob Taylor. They moved to Memphis where he painted and worked for Faxon, Inc. where he worked all over Shelby County and north Mississippi, during his career he built thousands of homes.
They returned to Henderson in 1985, and he operated Cook’s Home Care Service.
He enjoyed raising cattle on their farm in the Cave Springs Community.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Louise Beacham Cook of Henderson; three sons, Lynn (Liz) Cook of Henderson, Gary Lee Cook of Henderson and Allen (Susan) Cook of Somerville; two daughters, Sandra (Ray) Wells Ray of Jackson and Rebecca (Charles) Monks of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Cook, Jessica (Wayne) Fuqua, Erin (Rick) Fontana, Danielle (Cody) Atkin, Heather (Alan) Willis, Mason Wells, Patience Cook and Henry Monks; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Cook and Henry Belvin Cook; and a sister, Tiney Emerson.
