Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Gobble, Gobble, Gobble! Do you realize that next Thursday is Thanksgiving? How did it get here so quickly?! Do not forget that besides the day being about turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie that it is a day of gratitude. There is always something to be thankful for. Enjoy your dinner:
“May your stuffing be tasty, May your turkey be plump, May your potatoes and gravy have nary a lump, May your yams be delicious, and your pies take a prize, and may your Thanksgiving dinner stay off your thighs” (zazzle.com).
Mark your calendars for Saturday, Dec. 11, as there will be a Christmas party at the HCCC beginning at 5 p.m. with a potluck meal. The Center will furnish the ham and turkey. Of course, everyone loves playing bingo, so bring wrapped prizes for the bingo table. Santa will be making an appearance. We invite everyone to come out and hope to see some of the new families in our community. Invite your family and friends to come and enjoy an evening of good food, fun and fellowship.
I went to the Veteran’s Day Service held at City Hall. It is always nice to honor our veterans. May God Bless them and their families.
Thanks to Patricia Jones and her mom JoAnn for taking me to the Hee Haw Hootenanny show with them on Friday night. It was a really good show with lots of talent. If you missed the show, you missed a night of great music and lots of laughter.
I came home from the store the other day to find someone left a bag of greens on my doorstep. I cooked them, and they were oh so good, best ones I have ever had. Thanks, Debbie Hearn.
I have heard that raking leaves will help you lose weight. So if you want to start a diet, I have plenty of leaves to get you started. It will also help you reduce stress. Oh well, maybe we will get a strong wind and blow them all away.
