Need of childcare to be answered Jan 3.

Local residents, officials and politicians celebrated Keestone Academy joining the community of Henderson, Chester County as the new daycare center became a part of the Henderson|Chester County Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday December 6.
Keestone Academy came to be after Carlos Schmidt saw the need for the center during a town hall meeting during the summer.
The city and county had a study going on… in that report, they had internet as number one priority and job development training second and childcare was right there with it,” Schmidt said. “That was the evidence that I needed to move forward to develop this center.”
The full-service childcare center, which will be able to hold around 180 children, will make an impact on not only the Henderson and Chester County community but surrounding counties as well according to local officials and politicians.
“This is very important, just as important as getting a new factory, because we have what you called a desert of a lack of daycare… I think it’ll have a great effect on this area. Not just Chester County but the surrounding areas. To have this place right on 45, so many people go up this road going to Jackson to work and here you have a daycare center right here to take care of that need. It’s going to be huge,” Henderson Mayor Bobby King said.
“I think this will be a big asset to the community. It will help even in the future for people moving here. It’ll help in getting factories here,” said Chester County Mayor Barry Hutcherson.
At a time when we have so much economic development… what a crying need, for our families needing to have their children in safe secure, inspiring daycare opportunities,” Senator Page Walley said.
“Places like this, these facilities, rural daycares, touches three of the biggest places you can touch in a community; workforce, education and family. Just giving family peace of mind that their kids are in a great facility, learning and in a nuturing environment. I just hope this can be a template for other rural areas to be able to do the same thing, because it’s just if not the most important thing, one of the most important things a community can have,” said Representative Kirk Haston.
With security cameras in every classroom, Schmidt would like the community to know that their children will be safe.
“I think it will give families an opportunity to leave their child in a safe environment, a caring environment so they can go out and secure employment that will benefit that family.”
