Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Haven’t we been blessed with wonderful weather in December. It was 70 degrees earlier this week. Some may be wondering when winter will start. Will this winter be a cold one? When will it snow? The 2022 Edition of the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts the coming winter may be one of the longest and coldest that we have seen in years. It predicts that it is going to be a snowy and cold winter in parts of Tennessee. For 230 years the almanac has been helping readers prepare for winter’s worst conditions with its 80% accuracy on forecasts. I hope it is wrong as I have really enjoyed our warm temperatures. Joel on channel 7 says it is possible that we may get some snow later in the week. I am not excited about that as I saw plenty of snow when I lived up north in Illinois.
Monday was a beautiful day. I worked in the yard and also cleaned up Ruger’s kennel. Ruger (my lab) is in Illinois with Terry and will be coming home soon. He has had his second surgery and is doing fine. I face-timed with Ruger, and he knew it was his mama as he was wagging his tail.
Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas. Santa did make it to my house as I had lots of presents under my tree. Two of Santa’s helpers, Pam Durbin and Kim Hearn, brought me meals for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Ladies, the meals were delicious, and I feel very blessed by your love and thoughtfulness. Thank you for thinking of me!
Well, it is time to say goodbye to 2021 and say hello to 2022. Many will be cooking black-eyed peas, turnip greens and cornbread on New Year’s Day, hoping this good ole southern meal will bring them good luck and fortune in 2022. Here is praying that 2022 will bring the end of COVID. Looks like cases are on the rise again.
Special birthday wishes go out to my daughter-in-law, Janice, on Dec. 30 and to my son, Greg, on Dec. 31! Wishing you both a great day as you celebrate.
