The following is the updated list of locals who have picked up petitions to run for office this year. Those who have qualified to run are indicated.
Those who have picked up petitions for the May 3, 2022 Republican Primary are: Justin Emerson (qualified) – Circuit Court Clerk; Stacy Smith (qualified) — County Clerk, – Jerry A. Lowe – County Commissioner District 1; Al McKinnon (qualified) – County Commisioner District 2; Chris Dunbar – County Commissioner District 3; Johnny W. Garner – County Commissioner District 3; Joseph Melaro – County Commissioner District 4; Barry Hutcherson (qualified) – County Mayor; Beverly Morton (qualified) – County Mayor; Angela R. Scott (qualified) – General Sessions Judge; Jeremy Epperson – Public Defender 26th Judicial District; Doris Ethridge (qualified) – Register of Deeds; Blair Weaver (qualified) – Sheriff; Lance Beshires (qualified) – Trustee; and Sharon Stovall (qualified) – Trustee.
