ANN SCARBROUGH Obituary – May 18, 1935 – April 2, 2021

Annie Rea Ray Scarbrough, 85, of Jackson passed away April 2, 2021 at her home. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Jimmy Dyer officiating. Burial followed in Malesus Ebenezer Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pinson United Methodist Church.
She was born May 18, 1935 in Selmer and grew up in McNairy County, the daughter of the late Leedy Ancil and Pronettie O. Ammons Ray. She graduated from McNairy Central.
She married David Cooper Scarbrough, Sr. in 1954. They made their home in Jackson. Mr. Scarbrough owned and operated Scarbrough Supply, a heating/air, electrical and plumbing business. After the children finished high school, she worked as secretary for the business. She was a member of the Pinson United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed cooking for her family, being with her sisters and being involved in her church. Mr. Scarbrough died 1996.
She is survived by a daughter, Paula Scarbrough of Jackson; one son, Mike Scarbrough of Pinson; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Bubba Scarbrough (1991); one daughter, Vicki Northcott (2015); a grandson, Jereld Mullins (2017); three brothers; and six sisters.
