If he was open on the football field, you knew to get him the ball. If he was open on the basketball court, you could rack up assists passing the ball to him. In tough game situations in both sports, he was the Eagle you relied on.
This year’s Chester County Independent Athletic Excellence Award recipient was Chad Barham.
Chad Barham has always been a valuable component for Eagles Football and Eagles Basketball.
When Barham was on the field, you could see him reach over the backs of defenders for a snag and outplay defenses that may double or even triple team him. Continuous catch after catch after catch throughout his high school career allowed him to accumulate over 2,500 receiving yards for the Eagles.
Troy University saw this talent in him. This led to Barham signing with the Trojans on April 26 to continue his athletic excellence in college. On top of that, Eagles Football Head Coach Dewond Johnson spoke very high of Barham’s attitude and mentioned how he told the Troy University Trojans that they’re getting a good one.
Though he is not going to Troy for basketball, he was a threat on the court nonetheless. Standing at 6 ft 4, he had the upper hand versus most opponents. Additionally, his large athletic physique gave him the ability to overpower opponents and hold his ground in the paint. Barham’s basketball talent added him to the list of Eagles who scored over 1,000 points in their career.
Now an alum of Chester County High, it is time for Barham to strive to make his mark at Troy like he did at Chester County.
The Chester County Independent rewards Class of 2024 graduate, Barham, with the CCI Athletic Excellence Award due to all of the success he has had in Chester County Football and Chester County Boys Basketball.
The Independent joins the community in wishing Barham good luck in college.
