Betty Colleen Whitman Ricketts, 92, passed away at her home in Cedar Grove early Wednesday morning, Nov. 20, 2019.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 23, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson – Crook Avenue Chapel with Pastor Jamie Sprayberry officiating.
Burial followed in Cave Springs Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. Friday.
She was born in the Montezuma Community of Chester County on March 3, 1927 daughter of the late Nathan Ed and Maudie Mosier Whitman.
She married William Deon Ricketts in 1969, and they made their home in Chester County. Mr. Ricketts passed away Jan. 25, 2018.
She was primarily a homemaker, wife and mother to her three adopted children. She enjoyed fishing and going to yard sales and flea markets.
She is survived by son, James Ricketts of Lexington; daughters, Tabatha Bell of Cedar Grove and Taron Ricketts of Milan; and grandchildren, Cheyenne Barham, Kolbie Bell, Sydney, Dakota, Timothy and James Ricketts, Jr. and Will and Robert Warren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son , Robert Brooks; brothers, Floyd, J.D., Cletus, Herbert and S.L. Whitman; sisters, Myrtle Whitman, Gladys Frye, Ruby Horn; and grandson, Seth Ricketts.
