BILLIE BISHOP Obituary – July 10, 1930 – Jan. 26, 2021

Billie Bishop, 90, of Henderson passed away Jan. 26, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Shackelford Funeral directors – East Main Chapel with Terry Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Henderson City Cemetery.
The family received friends at East Main Chapel from noon on Friday until service time.    
He was born July 10, 1930 in Henderson, the son of the late William Thomas and Ivy Atrice Weeks Bishop. He was a graduate of Chester County High School. He married Ethel Neisler in 1953. They owned and operated Bill’s Grocery and Diner in Henderson for many years. He was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and earned a purple heart during the Korean War.   
He was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, collecting guns and raising dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Rhea Neisler Bishop of Henderson; two sons, Timothy (Betty Jo) Bishop of Saltillo and Jeffrey Morgan Bishop of Memphis; and two grandchildren, Stephen Bishop and Melissa Bishop both of Seattle, Wash.    
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry Bishop; and two sisters, Mary Jane Bishop and an infant sister.
