The No. 22 Lady Lions (26-6, 14-4 MSC) won their sixth and seventh straight games on Tuesday, knocking off Blue Mountain. Brittany Adair continued to dominate in the circle after a masterful weekend that earned her MSC and National Pitcher of the Week honors.
After totaling 28 strikeouts in her two performances against Bethel on Friday and Saturday, the sophomore transfer tied an FHU single-game record 18 strikeouts in her third straight shutout.
The Lady Lions offense struggled to cross the plate through the first three innings of the contest, but they were able to take advantage of a Blue Mountain defensive miscue, allowing Laiken Page to score in the top of the fourth, which would go on to be enough for the win. In game two of the doubleheader, the Toppers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but after a scoreless second inning, the Lady Lions were able to bounce back in the top of the third with three runs. Catherine Crabb led off the inning with a single, followed by a double from Kennedy Harris to advance Crabb to third base. Sophie Dunavant drove in Crabb on a sacrifice fly, and after Annalise Jarnagin reached on a walk, Morgan Crawford brought her and Harris in on a two-out double. After allowing the first-inning run, Crawford was able to settle in and get the win, striking out six batters while just walking one.
