Bruno knows how to make an entrance. He danced into the newspaper office Tuesday afternoon, excited to meet everyone and claim his prize as Top Dog in the Chester County Independent annual pet calendar contest.
Of 45 entries and 3,208 votes, Bruno lead the pack with a total of 400 votes. It was a close race, with the second and third place entries just 15 and 61 votes behind him, respectively.
Bruno’s best friend, Marty Plunk, of Henderson, said he adopted both Bruno and his sister Bella from Loving Paws Animal Rescue in May of 2020. The two Chihuahua/Feist pups had been victims of circumstance. Plunk said they had planned to only adopt one dog, but upon finding that there was a sister to their guy, they adopted both and never looked back.
Bruno is a friendly, outgoing dog. He loves people, loves to eat and loves snow, though not necessarily in that order. He is also always ready to dance. Check out the calendar to see Bruno’s prize winning photo, and to find out who else made the top 12.
The calendars will be ready in the coming weeks, and will be available for purchase from the Independent office at $5 each. All 45 entries will be featured in the calendar.
The Independent will donate a portion of the contest proceeds to City of Henderson Animal Control, Loving Paws Rescue and Funny Farms Rescue Ranch, which is fitting, as Bruno and sis Bella owe their happiness to rescuing hearts.
