Chester County’s last football game of the season put the CCHS boys up to a hard task.
They played the Lexington Tigers last Friday, and the Tigers have dominated teams this year.
Though they did not turnout victorious, they still managed to score 14 points compared to Lexington’s 49.
The team’s final record was 2-8 with victories over Liberty Tech and Bolivar Central.
The end of a season, is always an emotional one regardless of the sport. Football is no different.
Head Coach Steve Robinson told the team, especially the seniors, that no matter where they go in life, they will remember the people they played football with.
“Even though you may go your separate ways, you will still remember your brothers,” Robinson said. “That’s what’s special. That’s what’s important.
Before the seniors went home Friday night, they explained how and why football has impacted them and the brotherhood that they established throughout their high school careers.
“The Brotherhood. Just spending everyday out here with my boys,” was senior Kale Epperson’s response on what he will miss.
“The people you meet playing football are the people you are going to cherish for the rest of your life,” said senior Tyler Wilbanks. “People aren’t going to be there for you like the people you played football with. Whenever you’re down they got you, and whenever you’re up they got you. It’s just the greatest family you could’ve ever asked for.”
Robinson said how the end of the season is also tough on him as he will miss having them on the team.
“ I always hate to see them go,” he said. “A lot of those kids played four years and worked hard four years. But at the same time, it’s just a phase of life everybody goes through.”
Most of the team will be returning though which will be helpful for next season said Robinson. He hopes that the team has a chance to build up during the off season.
The team was not able to practice during the spring and summer of this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but Robinson hopes that everything will be good enough to where they can for the 2021 football season. “We got some work to do… We got some things we have to clean up and things we have to work on to get where we want to be. I think one of the main things we just have to focus on now is getting our kids stronger,” he said.

CCHS Football Players ran onto the field for the last time this year for their game against the Lexington Tigers.
