The Chester County Eagles and Eaglettes dropped two last week when they traveled to Crockett County. This marks the second time that both teams have succumbed to the Cavaliers this season.
In their first meeting the Lady Eagles scored 53 points, their highest of the season and were defeated 19-53. Last week the score was reversed with the Eaglettes falling 23-50.
The Eagles were narrowly defeated in the first game 54-59. The second meeting saw the Eagles lose 53-62. LADY EAGLES The first quarter was rough for the Eaglettes. JuJu Prather put the only points on the board. They missed most of their shots while the Lady Cavaliers were able to find the basket.
Midway through the second quarter Crockett County extended its lead to 27-6 as the Eaglettes were only able to score a couple more goals while the Cavilers jumped to 30-10 at the intermission.
The third quarter began with a basket by Chester County’s Savannah Williams, followed with a three-pointer by Alexis Rivers. The final quarter saw the Lady Eagles struggle with the ball and pulling down crucial rebounds as Crockett built on their lead with a final score of 23-50. EAGLES
The Eagles began the game with Jayden Williams hitting his first shot for two. Isiah Stafford was fouled and made both shots at the free throw line. Christian Swift shot for a three-pointer as the second quarter began. He was fouled and hit one of his shots from the charity stripe. Aiden Welch scored a basket and then Williams was fouled. He hit one of his three throws. Crockett County continued with several fouls that the Eagles took advantage, tying the score at 12. Williams continued with another two-pointer. The Eagles continued to score with points by Welch, Williams and Peyton Barham. The score at the half was Chester County 23, Crockett 16. Peyton Barham scored two at the beginning of the third quarter and was fouled. He made both of his free throws. Jayce Goff found a basket from the three-point line. Welch continued his scoring with two. Christian Halford attempted a three-pointer but missed, He was fouled on the shot. The Eagles only scored six in the third but held onto the lead 34-29 at the end of three. The Cavaliers rallied in the final quarter and were only down by one early. The Eagles continued to take advantage of Crockett County’s fouling problems, tying the score at 48 at the end of regulation, forcing overtime. With 2:18 left on the clock the Eagles were down by two. The Cavaliers came back and won the contest 53-62.
