CELESTE MOORE Obituary – May 17, 1929 – Sept. 18, 2022

Mattie Celeste Harville Moore, 93, of Montezuma passed away Sept. 18, 2022 at Germantown Methodist Hospital.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Dr. Billy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Montezuma Cemetery. The family will receive friends at East Main Chapel from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday.
She was born May 17, 1929 in Glen, Miss., and moved to the Montezuma Community at the age of 13, the daughter of the late John Isam and Dora Delitha Newcomb Harville. She married Joe Max Moore in 1944. They made their home at Montezuma.
She worked at the Queens Cup from 1969 until 1974 and Bells Drive In from 1974 until 1976. She had also worked at Chicksaw State Park in housekeeping and for her brother Harville’s Lure and manufacturing. She worked at the Country Pine Shop with her sister, Barbara, on Main Street in Henderson.  
She and Joe Max were members of the Estes Church of Christ for many years and, more recently, the Henderson Church of Christ.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Danny) Benard of Henderson; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two close friends and caregivers, Betsy and Toni McClure.  
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Max Moore in 1999; a son, David Moore in 2022; four brothers, John Harville, Max Harville, Hugh Harville and Ray Harville; and two sisters, Dot Richardson and Barbara Ray.
