Chamber board accepting executive director applications

Emily Johnson, executive director of the Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce since 2009, has been named vice president, talent development of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce. Her last day with the Henderson/Chester County Chamber will be Friday, Aug. 6; she will begin her duties in Jackson Aug. 11. Channing Carroll will serve as interim director, according to Courtney Insell, chamber president. Carroll has been the chamber’s membership and events coordinator since August 2016.

The Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Executive Committee will review submissions and follow up with applicants.
“We have been blessed to have Emily as the director of the Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce for more than a decade,” Insell said. “She has helped facilitate considerable growth and progress in our county. We will miss Emily and her enthusiasm for our community, and we wish her well as she uses her skills to serve West Tennessee in a new way.”
The community is invited to celebrate Johnson’s work at a come-and-go reception Wednesday, Aug. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the chamber office (111 East Main St. in Henderson). Johnson is a Tennessee Certified Economic Developer, a Tennessee Chamber of Commerce Executives Institute graduate and a graduate of TVA’s Rural Leadership Institute and Workforce Institute. She serves as secretary for the Henderson Regional Planning Commission and is a WestStar Class of 2011 member. In 2018, she received a Jackson Area Business and Professional Women Sterling Award. A Leadership Chester Class graduate, she currently directs the adult and youth Chester County Leadership Programs. Johnson is the Chester County Imagination Library chairman. In addition, she served two terms on the Chester County Carl Perkins Advisory Council and was the committee chair for the Class of 2019 Chester County Project Graduation.
