At the start of the Chester County Board of Education, Director of Schools, Troy Kilzer II, shined the light the on the high school’s theatre production “Singin’ in the Rain.”
He gave the opportunity for the group of cast members to sing, dance and present a trailer of the upcoming musical.
“This time last year we were blown away by their performance of ‘Newsies,’ and then, this past fall, the performance of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Looking forward to this one,” Kilzer said.
Fifteen of over 50 cast members performed at the meeting.
CCHS theatre director Mary Hicks, expressed how excited she was for the community to see the musical.
“I think you will be amazed with what we done with the stage,” she said as she explained how the stage has a platform that will have an actual raining unit.
The production’s choreography, choreographed by Caraline Williams, is also expected to be exciting.
“This show is all about dance,” Hicks said. “Some of these students just put on tap shoes in the last month or so, and they have just blown me away with their ability.”
Additionally, the school board approved revisions of student attendance procedures for the 2020-21 academic year.
The revision was to reduce the number of allowed times a parent can call their child in sick from seven to five and to do the same for the amount of doctors statements allowed.
The next CCBOE meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the CCBOE Conference Room.
